Verde Canyon Train in Clarkdale, Arizona
(Approximately 25 miles from Sedona)
Hop aboard the historic Verde Canyon Railroad with its vintage locomotive engines, renovated passenger coaches and open-air viewing cars. This 4-hour round trip journey through the Verde Canyon – often called “ Arizona ’s other Grand Canyon ” has a beauty all its own. With this excursion, you are able to travel through areas accessible only by rail – from the canyons starting in Clarkdale, west of Sedona to Jerome and back.
Astonishing views of a wild and alive frontier are still visible around every bend as the train winds its way northward on tracks once intended for a copper industry that is now just a recollection. Ancient Sinagua Indian dwellings carved into the landscape and remnants of early pioneers have left their indelible mark along the route.
Experience red rock pinnacles and clean, green waters. Travel through a 680-foot man-made tunnel! Along the way, you will see ancient Indian ruins as well as indigenous flora & fauna.
