Canyon Chamber Music Festival - September Grand Canyon Statistics:277 river miles pass through the canyon South Rim (7,000 feet above sea level)The South Rim is open all year round. Traveling to the canyon in the summer Climate: North Rim (8,000 feet above sea level)The North Rim is open approximately mid May through mid October. The exact closing and opening dates depend on the amount of snow fall received throughout the winter. Since the North Rim can receive snowfall anytime of year and the spring and fall months weather is unpredictable it is best to be prepared for all types of weather conditions. Climate: The Inner Canyon at Phantom Ranch ( 2,570 feet above sea level)The inner canyon is considered to be a desert except along the rivers and creeks.
